We are very proud to present the worldwide celebration of photographers "Photo Fest Asia", an international photography exhibition organized by East West University Photography Club (EWUPC) for the second time. Photographers working at all levels are eligible to participate-professionals, emerging talents, students and passionate amateurs. Photographers around the world are encouraged to take part in this exhibition by expressing their thoughtful approaches throughout their photographs.
(b. 1986, Bangladesh) makes work that explores the possibilities of time, light and sound. His portraits, landscapes, and photographic series engage philosophically with the specificities of personal and national histories. His approach incorporates detail observations and subtle gestures to enter into the personal spaces, often minimal and atmospheric.
Protick was named in British Journal of Photography’s annual ‘Ones to Watch’ and PDN’s 30 emerging photographers of the year. He is the recipient of Joop Swart Masterclass, Magnum Foundation Fund, World Press Photo award, Australian Photobook of the Year grand prize. His work has been shown in museums, galleries and photo festivals including, Art Dubai, Paris Photo, Singapore Art Week, Dhaka Art Summit, Latvian Contemporary Museum of Photography, Chobi Mela International Photography Festival, Noor der licht, etc.
Protick is a faculty member at Pathshala-South Asian Media Institute and currently represented by East Wing Gallery.
Tanzim is the Chief Curator of Bengal Foundation. A writer and a curator, he explores possible correspondences between pedagogy and artistic production in the South-Asian context. His research interests encompass the vernacular practice and local history of photography, with a specific interest in early staged photography of South Asia. He jointly published two editions of “Kamra” – a comprehensive publication in Bengali setting ideas and debates of photographic history and theories (with Munem Wasif). Tanzim was the Vice Principal of Pathshala South Asian Media Institute from 2013 to 2015. He was a curator of Chobi Mela Photography Festival, Dhaka in 2013, 2015 and 2017, and Photography Oxford Festival, Oxford in 2014. Tanzim has been a fellow of several programs, including Art for Social Change, USA and Art Think South Asia (ATSA), India among others.
Starting in 2000 under the name EWUCPC, East West University Photography Club (EWUPC) has passed 18 glorious years since. The club works relentlessly to bring the innate photographer of the students to light and to make them aware of the different dimensions of this beautiful art. The club motivates the students to learn new ideas and techniques from others and also to share their own. It inspires the students to work as a team so that they can share their ideas and make the best use of their imaginative power. The club emphasizes a high degree of exquisite sense to reflect in their works. East West University Photography Club (EWUPC) have successfully been organizing several national and international photography exhibitions since its founding. Many of the institution's important events have been covered by the members of the club, thus contributing to their beloved academia. The highly talented and relentlessly hard-working members of the club have also participated in a large number of national and international exhibitions and won many prestigious awards, bringing honor to the university and media club as a result.
